My Akaroa Day tour is an 8-hour trip leaving Christchurch via the Summit road which gives you magnificent views over both the Lyttleton Harbour, Christchurch City and out across the plains to the Southern Alps. You will visit a cheese factory to enjoy some tastings at the last operating Cheese factory at Barry s Bay and along the way, we shall stop somewhere pretty for a homemade morning tea on a remote beach or high above the many inlets. Lots of opportunities for photo stops with spectacular views over Banks Peninsula, and a two-course delicious homemade picnic lunch in a scenic location.
My Akaroa Day Tour can also include a 2-hour scenic cruise on the Black Cat boat. This cruise offers some wonderful variety including unique volcanic coastal scenery, NZ Fur Seals, and the endangered Hectors Dolphins as well as Little Blue Penguins. However, if you prefer we can golf, view gardens, farm-visit or sightsee to suit your wishes. Please mail me.
Akaroa is 83 kilometers from Christchurch, set on a beautiful, sheltered harbour and overlooked by craggy volcanic hills, Akaroa is a popular weekend retreat with a population of around 750. It is a quiet spot much of the time and a quaint village although we should check to see if a Cruise Boat is scheduled to be in the Harbour as that can really change the experience. The settlement has a unique French flavour and some quaint shops if you wish to enjoy some shopping.
If you were in Akaroa on a Cruise boat and wished to have a Shore Excursion please have a read of my client Bob s Blog on his day-tour with his wife and friends back in 2012. Gives you quite a good idea of what is on offer
