If you would like to enjoy a Shore Excursion from your cruise boat whilst in Akaroa please do contact me. My vehicle is a 2012 Toyota Hi-Ace with air conditioning and sound system seating 7 passengers.
I can offer to take you around the bays and show you some beautiful scenery and remote beaches as well as visit a garden or a sheep farm if you wish to spend the day on Banks Peninsula ( approx 70 kms driving around the peninsula ) 8-hour charter is $600 or take you over into Christchurch. (approx. 180 kms ) 8-hour charter is $700
Things to see or do on Banks Peninsula include:
- Visit the Museum in Okains Bay. Okains Bay Museum
- Farm Visit to sheep farm for sheep shearing and dog demonstration or visit to Al Paca farm or wine tasting possible.
- A visit to beautiful rural gardens at Fishermans Bay. Fishermans Bay Garden
- Or Garden at French Farm. The Garden at French farm
- Visit the cheese factory at Barry s Bay to view cheese making and tasting of local cheeses. Barry Bay Cheese Factory
The village at Little River has some neat little arty cafes and view the old railway station as well as some lovely native song birds to listen to. The beach at Kaitorete Spit has beautiful washed stones with some glorious colours and views along the coast to Banks Peninsula.
otherwise I can take you over the hill into Christchurch to show you the Garden City (180 kms driving return from Akaroa ).
Going into Christchurch if the weather is good I would recommend to go over via the Summit Road stopping off at Barry s Bay cheese factory to taste some of the local cheeses, drop into Kaitorete Spit to pick up some lovely stones on the natural gravel beach. Stop for a cup of tea or coffee and some home baking at a scenic spot along the way.
Whilst in Christchurch there is much to see as the city is recovering from the 2011 Earthquake. The Botanical gardens are a treasure in the center of the city and take a brief walk through the Arts Centre. One of the worlds largest restoration projects. The Museum is close by also if you wish to see some of our colonial history or the cities connection with Antarctica or some of the Maori exhibitions.
I can provide home-made picnics largely grown in my organic garden to enjoy in a scenic location for $30 per person or if you chose to come to Christchurch we can enjoy lunch in our sunroom, or if you prefer, take you to a café or restaurant .
Other points of interest within the city are a private prize-winning garden $7.50 per person.
Wine tasting at Rossendale Rossendale Wine tasting.

The city is quite compact and if you allow 2.5 hours to get from Akaroa to Christchurch with a few stops for the cheese factory, photos and morning tea in some scenic location. We can return on a more direct route and comfortably arrive within 1.5 hours of leaving the city back to the cruise ship.
It’s nice to leave with 30 minutes extra just to make sure we don’t get stuck in a mob of sheep on the move and can use that time if left over to browse the shops or I can take you to some lovely outlooks above the village of Akaroa to complete the tour.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to mail me and I shall promptly answer or if you prefer to chat please refer to the contact page and happy to speak to you via which-ever app is most suitable for you.
